LeBron James is undoubtedly of legendary status in the NBA. The all-time NBA leading scorer continues to achieve monumental records.

This latest milestone is likely to be his personal favourite. LeBron took to the basketball hardwood with his 20-year-old son LeBron ‘Bronny’ James Jr. last night in a historic moment in the NBA.

LeBron and Bronny became the first father-son duo to play on the same NBA team at the same time.

Wearing the famous gold and purple of the Los Angeles Lakers, the father-son duo stepped on to the court at the same time in their season opener against Minnesota Timberwolves at the Crypto.com Arena.

With four minutes left of the second quarter, Lebron and Bronny entered the game to a euphoric standing ovation from the home crowd. Bronny managed to secure one rebound in three minutes, whilst LeBron scored 16 points to help Lakers secure an opening day win.

Lebron’s illustrious career already includes four NBA Championships, a total of 20 consecutive all-star appearances and becoming a four-time winner of the Most Valuable Player award. The 'kid from Akron' was also inducted as a Guinness World Records ICON in 2024.

Bronny was drafted as the 55th pick from the USC college team in the NBA 2024 Draft, by the Lakers. The anticipation for the pair to take to the court at the same time had gathered pace ever since, making this not only a colossal moment for the James family but also a seismic one for the NBA.

LeBron’s many accolades within the NBA mean that he also holds several Guinness World Records titles:

  • Youngest individual to reach 5,000, 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, 25,000 and 30,000 points in an NBA career
  • Most NBA postseason wins by a player - 182
  • First player to record a triple-double against every NBA team

This latest record has always been a long-term goal for LeBron. Making this a reality, not only shines a bright light on his fathering skills but also is a testament to his longevity in the game of basketball. This will be a difficult feat to repeat.
