Martial artist Muhamed Kahrimanovic showed off his record-breaking prowess on America’s Got Talent, but sadly failed to impress Simon Cowell.

The record breaker, from Germany, was hoping to improve his own total for most coconuts broken with one hand in one minute in front of the talent show judges.

He has held the record numerous times over the years, with his repeated attempts either outdoing his own number or taking his record back after someone else had broken it.

His current record of 148 was set in 2022 on the set of our Italian TV series Lo Show dei Record.

And he was keen to increase his total while racking up another TV appearance on Tuesday night’s AGT.

Around 170 coconuts were lined up on the stage for Muhamed, who came out dressed in his martial arts uniform to chat with judges Simon, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum.

He enjoyed a bit of banter with supermodel Heidi, speaking to her in German.

The crowd laughed when he responded “I’m not young” after being asked how old he was, and he told Heidi he’s a great-grandpa and that he’s been retired for two years.

When asked how he got into breaking coconuts, he explained he’s been doing martial arts for over 50 years.

Muhamed, who has earned the nickname "Hammer Hands", was soon joined on stage by the show’s host Terry Crews and Guinness World Records Adjudicator Michael Empric, who went over the rules of the record attempt.

“They have to be split in at least two pieces,” Michael told the audience.

“Now a reminder, Muhamed is the current Guinness World Records title holder with 148 coconuts, so he’s attempting to break his own record today.”

The apt soundtrack of “Eye of the Tiger” was added as Muhamed made his way down the line of coconuts, smashing them with his fist, with a few slow-motion shots added in to build the tension.

The crowd was fully behind him, and even Heidi was on her feet to cheer him on, holding her arms up in celebration as his attempt came to a close.

As Michael began his count, Terry again made it clear that the coconuts had to be totally split to be added to the total.

Muhamed looked to be out of breath as he waited on stage, with Heidi joking he should drink some coconut water to revive himself.

Announcing the result, Michael said: “The mark to beat was 148. Today, Muhamed, you had 23. I’m so sorry.”

Simon was utterly unimpressed, shouting “No” as he pressed his buzzer.

“It’s not even close,” the judge added.

Muhamed was given a ‘no’ from the judges, meaning he won’t make it through to the next round, but he didn’t let it get his spirits down, saying: “It’s no problem.”

And of course, Muhamed is still a winner in our eyes no matter what Simon thinks!

Keen to see just how difficult a feat it is, Howie asked a runner to bring him one of the unbroken coconuts.

He put it down on the floor and hit it with his fist, seeming to do nothing but hurt his hand.

Howie did eventually manage to break the coconut, after stamping on it with his foot… twice.

Muhamed has a number of other record titles to his name, including most coconuts smashed with one hand in one minute (blindfolded) (43), most bottles broken with the hand in one minute (66) and most coconuts smashed while holding an egg in 30 seconds (49).

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and the next day on Peacock
