As he returns to fight in his homeland of Mexico for the first time in 12 years, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez decided to make the visit a record-breaking family affair.

The boxer was joined on stage by his siblings Víctor “El Matador” Álvarez, Daniel “El Conde” Álvarez, Gonzalo “El León” Álvarez, Ricardo “Dinamita” Álvarez, Ramón “El Inocente” Álvarez and Rigoberto “El Español” Álvarez for a special certificate presentation for the Guinness World Records title they share.

The seven brothers have held the title for most siblings to fight in the same professional boxing event since 2008 when they pulled on their gloves at an event in Zapopan, Mexico on 28 June.

This week, the siblings were presented with a certificate for their achievement by Guinness World Records Adjudicator Alfredo Arista.

Canelo, who is in town to defend his title as undisputed 168 lb champion against John Ryder at Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Jalisco, this Saturday, has more than just that record to his name.

The 32-year-old fighter also holds the titles for the highest annual earnings for a boxer (current year) and first undisputed super-middleweight boxing champion.

Canelo Alvarez with his achievments

Alvarez started his professional boxing career at the age of 15 and quickly gained a reputation as a skilled and impressive fighter. He won his first world title in 2011 at the age of 20 and went on to win titles in four different weight classes, including the WBC, WBA, and IBF middleweight titles, as well as the WBO light heavyweight title.

Guadalajara holds a special place in Canelo's heart because it’s not only where he was born, but also where his career began and an important milestone in his career was achieved. He is a symbol of pride and celebration throughout Mexico.

Outside of boxing, Alvarez is involved in philanthropic work, particularly in his home country. He supports various charitable organizations and causes, specifically those focused on helping underprivileged children and families.

Overall, Canelo is a brilliant boxer who has achieved great success in his career. His amazing skills, dedication, and perseverance in the sport have made him a worldwide inspiration and earned him a place in history.

Congratulations, Canelo and the Alvarez family, on this incredible accomplishment!
