world largest chicken nugget Nick and Lynja

Nick DiGiovanni (USA) and Lynn Davis (Japan) are back at it again, creating super-sized food worthy of a world record.

Nick and Lynn (better known by the name 'Lynja' which is used in her TikTok handle cookingwithLynja) created the largest cake pop on 23 November 2021. The duo have teamed up again for a second colossal culinary creation.

The pair have now created the world’s largest chicken nugget, weighing in at 20.960 kg (46 lb 3.34 oz), approximately 115 times larger than your average chicken nugget.

The chicken “slurry” for the main component of the nugget consisted of:

  • 40 slices of white bread
  • Half a galleon of whole milk
  • 40 pounds of ground chicken
  • 40 eggs
  • ¾ cup onion powder
  • ¾ cup garlic powder
  • 1 cup salt
  • ½ cup black pepper

First, the milk and bread slices were combined and set aside.

"That’s our trick to get a juicy chicken nugget," shared Lynja.

Then all the other ingredients were combined, before the milk-soaked bread was mixed in.

Once the mixture was completed, the next challenge was baking it.

"In order to bake this chicken nugget, since it’s so large, we had to build a special contraption," said Nick.

"Between these 48 eggs and our 40 pound of chicken, we’re using going to be using close to 60 whole chickens." – Nick DiGiovanni

Once the mixture was poured into the specially-made container, Nick and Lynja coated the uncooked nugget with more beaten eggs, in order to get the breadcrumbs to stick to the outside.

"I’ve made a lot of dino nuggets in my time, but never have I used a paint brush," remarked Nick.

The top of the nugget was then coated in a mix of breadcrumbs and panko breadcrumbs.

Once this was done, the pair need to transport the nugget to a commercial oven to bake, as in their tests runs with a domestic oven it took over 12 hours!

Partway through baking, the mesh sides of the container were folded back, so the sides of the nugget could also be coated in the breadcrumb mix.

After this was done, the nugget was placed back in the oven, were it needed to continue cooking until the meat exceed a temperature of 165 Fahrenheit to ensure it was safe to consume.

Once the nugget was fully cooked, it was weighed and inspected by Guinness World Records Adjudicator Claire Stephens.

The record was then confirmed in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, on 25 May 2022.

After the successful attempt, the nugget was cut up and distributed to friends, family and the filming crew for consumption.
