Youtube star Hassan Suleiman (known as AboFlah) launched a livestream campaign titled "The World’s Coolest Winter" to raise humanitarian support for more than 100,000 refugees.
The Youtuber managed to achieve two incredible world records during his livestream for the following:
- Longest live stream (video) – 268 hours, 14 minutes, and 20 seconds
- Most viewers for a charity donation live stream on YouTube - 698,000 viewers
His incentive, which was organized by The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (UAE), managed to raise a whopping $11 million USD (£8.1 million).
The donations were used to support refugees and families in need in Africa and the Arab world by providing food, winter clothing, blankets, mattresses and critical aid to help displaced men, women and children prepare for harsh winter conditions.
It all began when AboFlah decided to lock himself up in a glass box and stream the whole thing until he reaches his goal of raising $10 million dollars.
During the 12 days, he managed to receive donations from more than 150,000 people from tens of countries around the world.
The campaign was also in partnership with Galaxy Racer, and the aid was distributed with the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
After reaching his target and some, AboFlah walked out to a crowd waiting anxiously to see him leave the box he vowed not to leave until his goal of raising $10 million was achieved.
Among the emotional applause and flashlights, AboFlah was awarded two Guinness World Records certificates from an official adjudicator on site in a night that will never be forgotten.
Burj Khalifa, in Downtown Dubai lit up with an image of AboFlah following his achievement.
AboFlah is not new to creative charity donation livestreams. In the span of 4 months, he managed to run three charity donations with the latest being the largest.
