Rose Blackpink close up

BLACKPINK member Rosé has embarked on her solo career and set two new Guinness World Records titles with her debut single "On The Ground".

The Korean-New Zealand singer reached number one on both the Global Billboard 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US on March 27, having previously topped the Global Excl. US chart with "Lovesick Girls" as a member of BLACKPINK with bandmates Jisoo, Jennie and Lisa.

This makes her the first artist to reach number one on a Billboard Global chart as a soloist and as part of a group.

Announcing her first solo venture in June 2020, Rosé released her debut album R on March 12 with two lead singles.

The music video for "On The Ground" premiered via YouTube on the same day and subsequently became the most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a solo K-pop artist with 41.6 million views.

It shattered the previous record held by PSY at 36 million views for the worldwide hit, "Gangnam Style".

BLACKPINK formed in 2016 and quickly shot to super-stardom.

They've broken multiple records, mainly for one of their biggest hits "How You Like That".

Rosé, real name Roseanne Park, was the last member to join the band, with her arrival announced just two months before their debut album Square One.

The group have won multiple awards, including a People’s Choice Award, a Teen Choice Award and an MTV Video Music Award.

They have also held previous Guinness World Records titles including the most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours and the most viewed music video in 24 hours, however these records are now held by fellow K-pop band BTS for their hit single "Dynamite".

Congratulations to Rosé on her incredible achievement - who knows, this may just be the start of her record-breaking solo career!
