All the records broken at the Virgin Money London Marathon 2021

The Virgin Money London Marathon flooded the streets once again on Sunday 3 October 2021 for its 41st edition, albeit during very special circumstances.

After a 2020 event only open to elite runners due to Covid-19, special measures have been taken this year to allow the event to go ahead. 

On a chilly autumn day, 54 record attempts took place, with runners aiming to enter the annals of Guinness World Records.

Chris Green broke the record for fastest marathon dressed as a mammal (male) - Rhinoceros

Out of 54 attempts, a total of 30 new Guinness World Records (GWR) titles have been achieved.

The first to cross the line among those attempting a Guinness World Records was Julian Rendall with a time of 2:51:45, setting a new record for fastest marathon dressed in pyjamas (male). 

Soon after, with a time of 2:56:38, Peter Butler-Jones set the new record for fastest marathon wearing wellington boots (male). 

Jennifer Graham broke the record as fastest marathon dressed in pyjamas (female).

Dressed for the win, Mark Williamson crossed the finish line and broke the record for fastest marathon dressed in a rugby kit (male). He achieved the impressive time of 03:05:45.

Following suit, Charlie Osmond broke the record for fastest marathon dressed as an astronomical body (male) with an... otherworldly time of 03:30:36.
