rat performing most alternate paw tricks by a rat and two rats together

Freddie and Frankie, from Watford, UK, are a pair of very talented pet rats, who have earned themselves a place in Guinness World Records 2021

Luke Roberts, 29, adopted the duo, that he fondly refers to as "the boys", and began teaching them tricks when they were around three months old, as soon as they had settled into their new home.

In October 2019, Luke and Frankie broke the record for the most alternating paw tricks by a rat in 30 seconds with an impressive total of 28.

Then, in January 2020, Freddie secured himself a record too for the most jumps through a hoop by a rat in 30 seconds, performing the move 8 times.

Luke and Jess are no strangers to record breaking themselves, and currently hold the record for the most party poppers popped in 30 seconds (team of two) which they set in August 2018 with a total of 51.

Keen that his pets were not left out, Luke sites this as one of the main reasons for entering Freddie and Frankie for Guinness World Records titles.

“It’s a superb feeling to share a world record with 'the boys' - both are a big part of our lives” said Luke.

However, Luke was surprised to find out that "the boys" had beaten him to the pages of the record books!

"I have always dreamt of being in the book – it used to be a staple present in Santa’s sack.  It is hilarious that ‘the boys’ beat me to it!" - owner Luke Roberts

According to Luke though, Freddie and Frankie,  now a year and a half old, are becoming less interested as they get older.

The pair are currently enjoying a well-earned break from learning new tricks- however both the rats do still enjoy performing their original skills.

They will also soon be joined by a new rat, Ronnie, who Luke and Jess are in the process of adopting.

Ronnie’s brother sadly passed away recently, so the couple are hoping that Freddie and Frankie can help cheer Ronnie up with some company.

Luke is hoping to teach Ronnie a few of the original tricks, so that all three rats can take part in the fun.
