There are few people who will stop at nothing to make their dream a reality - and Keith Dinsmore is one of them.

A passionate Batman fan from Portland, Maine (USA), Keith decided to take his appreciation a step further and become Batman - by  creating the ultimate cosplay costume.

Now the Guinness World Records title holder for most functional gadgets in a cosplay suit, Keith's Batman attire has a total of 30 distinctive mechanisms.

Keith first began going to conventions in 2013, where he could sport his Batman suits that he loved to wear so much, and where accepted and appreciated by others in the cosplay community.

Eventually, that drove him to meet the love of his life, Mollie, who shared his passion for Batman so much that they incorporated it into their wedding!

After some time, Keith quickly began to realize the prominent role cosplay had in his life, and in 2017, after seeing the record for most functional gadgets in a cosplay suit, decided to try and break it.

The record to beat was held by Julian Checkley with 23 gadgets.

As he looked to build the ultimate cosplay suit, Keith ensured it held key appliances used by Batman in different ways to make it as authentic and unique as possible.

Some of these include:

  • Bolla
  • Bat throwing stars (batarangs)
  • Butane torch
  • Mini grappling hook
  • Binoculars
  • Bat signal
  • Compass
  • Finger print kit
  • Tracking device
  • Nylon rope
  • Road flare
  • Laser pointer
  •  Flashbang
  • Hand cuffs
  • Pen cutting torch/ Acetylene torch
  • Extendable baton

For Keith, the highlights of cosplay are the design work that goes into the costumes.

He most enjoys seeing an idea turn into something tangible that he can share with others who appreciate his work.

“The best parts of creating my cosplays is the building process - especially when I'm creating something from my imagination - and presenting the final product and process to the cosplay community.”

Keith shares that his own critiques are the most difficult parts of his work. Like a typical artist, he always finishes thinking that he could have done something differently.most-gadgets-in-a-cosplay3

But regardless, he is still very proud of the work that he does.

“The lives I've managed to touch in this industry have been nothing short of amazing. This is what I was meant to do.”

While Keith has no immediate plans to break any titles in future, he hopes his record-breaking story inspires others to pursue their ambitions.

“I hope that people may use my example to encourage themselves to go for their dreams. There's a big wonderful world out there and all you have to do is dive in and give it all you've got and your dreams can come true.”
