x box largest projected videogame display

Xbox Series X and Destiny 2: Beyond Light (USA) are making headlines for their latest record-breaking feat, the largest projected videogame display.

Collaborating with Bungie and snowboarder Grant Giller, Xbox powered an epic Destiny 2 gaming experience in Frisco, Colorado to celebrate the game’s recent next-gen update.

The videogame was projected onto a 180 x 105-ft wide screen on the side of Copper Mountain with the skyline of the 10-mile mountain range of Colorado lit up in the background.

Giller spent a day on the slopes with his custom Destiny 2 x Xbox snowboard, followed by exploring the record-breaking display destination and using the new Stasis subclass in Destiny 2 on Xbox Series X.

A couch was set up facing the display which was projected onto the side of the mountain.

At an elevation of over 11,000 feet, it is one of the highest elevation projects ever produced.

Despite the extremely cold conditions, all the equipment used to make this record-breaking accomplishment possible upheld throughout scattered snowstorms during shooting, experiencing zero system failures.

The mountain also provided a strong enough internet connection for the Xbox Series X, allowing for perfect gaming, without visual or game play delays.

The final record was measured at 1,773.6 sq m (19,090 sq ft) and confirmed by Guinness World Records on 23 November 2020.

The achievement was announced by Xbox on 15 December.
