Singer/songwriter Prince Royce (US) is now part of a select list of artists recognised by Guinness World Records for being the artist with the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart (male) with 29 consecutive weeks for his single "Carita de Inocente,” between March 28 and October 17, 2020.

Prince Royce began his career in 2010 and since then has had a meteoric rise in the Latin market, positioning himself as one of the most recognized artists of the last decade.

Of Dominican descent, he is one of the most impressive representatives of the bachata genre at the international level and has collaborated with artists such as Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Marc Anthony, Maná, Daddy Yankee, Maluma, Snoop Dogg, Thalia, J Balvin, and Bad Bunny, among others.

He has more than 60 million followers on social networks, billions of plays on streaming platforms, and he fills concerts at full capacity, demonstrating that his talent and notable songs continue to win over fans around the world.

His iconic single, "Carita de Inocente," managed to stay at #1 for twenty-nine weeks on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart, as well as reaching #1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart. It has been certified Platinum in the United States and Puerto Rico.

To make it official, Guinness World Records Adjudicator, Spencer Cammarano, presented Prince Royce with his record title during a virtual certificate presentation.

“It is a pleasure and honor to award Latin music star, Prince Royce, with a Guinness World Records title for the most weeks at No.1 on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart (male). His hit single, “Carita de Inocente” spent 29 consecutive weeks at number one, cementing Royce's status as an inspiration for the Latin community. We are thrilled to welcome him into the Guinness World Records family,” said Cammarano.

“This being such a challenging year, I wasn’t really focused on numbers and what was happening with my music so when my team called me to tell me about the Guinness World Records achievement it shed a lot of light on my life. I grew up looking through the Guinness World Records book and never imagined it was something I would accomplish, so it has been a wonderful surprise. I am humbled and feel honored and grateful”, said Royce.

The hit single is part of his recent album, ALTER EGO, released by the artist in February 2020, and was nominated for the Latin GRAMMY 2020 for Best Contemporary Album/Tropical Fusion. 

Also, it has a variety of genres from romantic bachata to more street bachata, to R&B tracks, pop, some raps and urban beats.

Regardless of  language and country, he has been able to make important contributions to Latin music and gaining recognition the genre of bachata on a global level.
