Game 6 saw a dominant display by the Lakers who amassed a 28-point half time lead, the second-largest in NBA finals history. This was only bettered by the Celtics 79-49 lead over the team in 1985. The Lakers have now appeared in the most NBA Finals of any franchise, with 32.
The years 1949-50, 1952-54, 1972, 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987-88, 2000-02, 2009-10, and 2020, marked victory years for the franchise.
With their latest achievement, the team also earned the record for most post season wins by a team, with 456 between 1949 and 2020.
Towards the end of the night, as the team cheered through a confetti-filled arena, power forward LeBron James broke his own record title for most Finals MVP awards with different teams.
This was LeBron’s fourth MVP award, and fourth title, previously earning the award during his time with the Miami Heat in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, and the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015-16.
WE’RE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!! It just now hit me!! #LakerNation💜💛 🏆

This championship was quite a special one for the Lakers as it marks the first time they were in the NBA finals since 2010 – a feat the late athlete, Kobe Bryant helped achieve, along with his fifth NBA title.
Many felt the team worked hard to honor Kobe Bryant’s legacy with this final game, especially after his sudden passing in January.
Although 2020 has been quite the rollercoaster of the year, the Lakers ended their season with a big win for their team and their fans.
