2019 marks the fourth year Guinness World Records has partnered with Blackmores Sydney Running Festival and this year four runners crossed the finish line, becoming official Guinness World Records title holders. 

Six runners lined up on Sunday (15 September) in various costumes from TV character Betty Rubble, to a tennis player, in the hopes of entering the record books.

Mark Follett was the first across the finish line of those attempting a record, completing the Sydney marathon in 3 hours, 13 minutes and 23 second, setting new best for the fastest marathon dressed as a tennis player (male)

The other runners weren’t far behind, all setting new record times of under four hours. 

Those who were successful in achieving a record were presented with their official certificate in front of the iconic Sydney Opera House on the day, by GWR adjudicator Peter Fairbairn.

Here is the full list of records achieved by runners attempting Guinness World Records titles:

- Fastest marathon dressed as a tennis player (male): Mark Follett – 3 hours 13 minutes and 23 seconds

- Fastest marathon dressed in a rugby kit (male): John Waterfield – 3 hours, 18 minutes and 17 seconds

- Fastest marathon in highland dress (male): Adam Keighran -3 hours, 20 minutes and 17 seconds

- Fastest marathon dressed as a television character (female): Bethany Wormald – 3 hours, 54 minutes and 48 seconds
