Romeo Santos

“The King of Bachata”, also known as renowned Latin artist Romeo Santos, has officially become a Guinness World Records title holder for his successful music career.

In a recent certificate presentation of his records, he was recognized for the most year-end, best-selling albums in the tropical albums chart by a solo artist – a feat which he achieved over the last decade.

These include “Formula: Vol. 1” in 2012, “Formula: Vol. 2” in 2014 and “Golden” in 2017. Some of these albums featured collaborations with celebrities such as Usher, Nicki Minaj, Carlos Santana and other well-known musicians.

In addition, the US musician was credited for accomplishing the most years with a number one album on the Billboard Tropical Albums end of year chart for a solo artist with a total of five years in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018.

Romeo was also presented for his most consecutive weeks on a Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart record at 125 weeks for his song “Propuesta Indecente” which is from his second studio album “Formula, Vol. 2”.

The song fuses the sound of bachata and Argentine tango, and was accompanied by a music video which was filmed in Argentina. As of October 2018, the video had received 1.4 billion views.

His last Guinness World Records title was presented to him with his former band Aventura, as they succeeded in earning the most years with a number one album on the Billboard Tropical Albums end of year chart with a total of five.

Santos first started with the band and decided to pursue a solo career in 2011.

During the certificate presentation which took place prior to Romeo Santo’s concert in New York, adjudicator Ralph Hannah stated, “At Guinness World Records, we recognize all sorts of amazing achievements. Today we are thrilled to honor one of the most iconic bachata singer, songwriter, and record producer. Santos, welcome to the family!”
