CBBC’s Officially Amazing Goes Bunkers makes its long-awaited return tomorrow with an exciting episode that includes a whole host of record attempts, featuring whoopee cushions, a human cannonball and a pasta necklace challenge.

The first episode of the new series will also include a high-octane attempt by British mechanical engineer and drag racer, Tom Bagnall, who tries to set a record for the Fastest speed in a jet-propelled go-kart.

Two years ago, the title was attempted by multiple record-breaking inventor Colin Furze, who was unable to register the required speed of 71 mph – so is it even possible?!

Tom’s attempt takes place at RAF Elvington airfield in Yorkshire, UK, with official Guinness World Records adjudicators Mark McKinley and Matilda Hagne on site to verify the speed, with the help of a speed trap.

With a huge engine at the back and a gas tank by the driver’s feet, it’s no surprise that host Ben Shires expresses some concern about the attempt!

"Is that not a bit dangerous?" he asks.

If you’re in the UK, tune in to CBBC on Friday 20 April at 17:45 BST to find out if Tom – in his leathers and flame-proof protective clothing – will set the record or crash and burn.

To celebrate the new series of Officially Amazing Goes Bunkers, we’re giving you the chance to win a copy of Guinness World Records 2018, signed by the show’s stars – Mr Cherry, Sizzlin’ Steve, US Ray, Ben Shires, Haruka Kuroda and Desiree Burch (UK only).
