Multi record-breaking rap artist Drake has added yet another Guinness World Records title to his tally after notching up 22 nominations and 13 wins at the weekend’s Billboard Music Awards ceremony.

The Canadian musician has set a new record for the Most Billboard Music Awards won by an artist in a single year, beating the total of 12 awards that British star Adele won back in 2012.

Among Drake's awards were Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Streaming Artist and Top Rap Tour.

However, the rapper’s biggest win of the evening was the prestigious Top Artist award, which was presented to him by Michael Jackson’s eldest son Prince Jackson.

This year’s annual awards ceremony, which is organised by the music chart and publication company Billboard, took place at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

As well as accepting 13 awards, Drake put on a lively performance of his new track ‘Gyalchester’ in the middle of the renowned Bellagio fountain.

It was no surprise that Drake stole the show considering he dominated charts with the release of the 2016 album Views and More Life which was launched in March.

Drake won the Top R&B Collaboration award with his hit track ‘One Dance’ which remains the Most streamed track on Spotify. The song, which features Wizkid and Kyla, has been listened to over 1.1 billion times on the music streaming platform as of 26 April 2017.

Drake is also the Most streamed act on Spotify, a record which no doubt helped him win the Billboard awards for Top Hot 100 Song, Top Radio Song and Top Streaming Song.

The release of Drake’s newest album More Life – A Playlist by October Firm saw him rack up Guinness World Records titles for Most simultaneous new entries in the Hot 100 by a solo act, Most simultaneous tracks on US singles chart by a solo artist, Most streams for tracks from one album in a week (USA) and Most US Hot 100 entries by a solo artist.

The Billboard Music Awards were the culmination of a hugely successful and record-breaking year for the 30-year-old musician, who was born Aubrey Drake Graham.

Drake is fast catching up to fellow record-breaker Taylor Swift who has won a grand total of 21 Billboard Music Awards over her career to date.
