Here’s a quick look at the gamers who have accepted the challenge to take part in the first ever GWR Gamer’s: The Showdown.

1. Avid gamer Ross Thompson (aka TommyT999) has set his sights on the title Fastest time to score 3 baskets with a puck in Rocket League.

The player, who boasts over 581K subscribers on his YouTube channel, says "I am confident that I can become a record holder and set a time that will be very difficult to beat!"

Ross describes Psyonix’s vehicular soccer game as "a game that takes minutes to learn to play but a lifetime to master. I am by no means a pro and won't be heading to the eSports circuit anytime soon, but it’s a great game to jump in solo or with friends online as the five minute game time means you can pick up and play at any time and have a whole heap of fun!"

He might not be ready for professional competitions yet, but with the right amount of practice Ross could be making his debut into the record books.

"I will be cramming as much training as possible between now and the live stream to make sure I can nail my target time and go home a record breaker!"

2. Callum Knight (aka SeaPeeKay) is taking on the Fastest time to craft a house in Minecraft.

"Despite having little experience in playing on a console, I am confident that I can become a record holder. I’ll be putting in at least 2/3 hours [of training] a day as this is something that I really want to succeed in!"

The YouTuber says it the "creative freedom" that has him hooked on the popular open world game.

3. Lastly, we have Fun Kids Radio presenter Sean Thorne – who is known as N60Sean in the gaming world – attempting the Fastest time to win a 4-way ladder match in WWE 2K18.

"Preparations have gone well!" he said, talking about the upcoming live attempt. "I'm hoping having a few past world records in the bag will give me an edge on the day."

Sean has previously entered the record books with titles like Most soft toys caught blindfolded in 30 seconds (team of two), but can he stand up to the pressure of a live gaming attempt? Watch the show to find out.

4. Once each of the three gamers has taken on their individual challenges, they will be teaming up with presenter Sam for the title Most coins collected in a single round of Coin Runners team of 4 (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe).

Sam used to work as a gaming journalist for ITN. "I love video games, I just wish I had more time to play them," he says.

Like Sean, he has set records in the past, but not for gaming. Nevertheless, he’s confident he’s in with a shot for the Mario Kart title: "You need to work out your approach, keep the faith and stick with it."

GWR Gamer’s: The Showdown is on Tuesday 28 November and will be streamed on the Guinness World Records YouTube channel at 19:00 GMT (14:00 EST).
