A production of the popular musical ‘Annie’, performed by young drama students from the Sharpe Academy of Theatre Arts, has set a new world record as the Fastest theatrical production ever.
From start to finish – including everything from auditions and casting to practise and costume design – the production took just 15 hours to take to the stage.
Following the Guinness World Records guidelines, none of the participants were allowed to know which play they were going to be performing before the attempt. The show was chosen by picking a name from a sealed box.
The cast was aged from 6-18 years old and the leading character Annie was played by a talented 11 year old girl.
The impressive show took place in Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth, UK and was attended by an official Guinness World Records adjudicator.
The new record was announced after the curtain call to the delight of 110 young actors and actresses.
Having set up the challenge as a fun conclusion to their summer drama camp, the Sharpe Academy of Theatre Arts successfully bettered the previous record by an impressive seven hours.
