Things are about to get supernatural in New York again with the release of “Ghostbusters”, a reboot of the classic 1984 comedy.
 
Featuring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon in a new look, all-female line up of proton-packing heroines, the comical quartet are joined by original cast members Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd who appear in cameo roles.
 
 
Thirty-two years on from when movie fans first yelled “Who ya gonna call?”, here below we list ten of the best paranormal-themed records that are sure to entertain even the ghastliest of ghouls.  
 
Oldest Ghost
You think that people are the only creatures that can become ghosts? Think again! Vivaron is 6-9 m long lizard ghost that haunts Ghost Ranch located in New Mexico. For quite some time, the snake-demon was ignored as a folk tale until in 1947, when scientist Edwin H. Colbert discovered fossils of pre-historic crocodiles named phytosaurs. In this case, it makes Vivaron 220 million years old, making her the oldest ghost! 

Most people simultaneously slimed
A record that lovable green blob Slimer would surely approve of, this messy record was achieved on the set of kids TV channel Nickelodeon’s Slimefest in Sydney, Australia back in 2012. At the televised event, buckets of slime lingered above attendees before the green slop was unleashed on 3,026 people beneath. 
 
Most systematic scientific study into haunted locations
Many gadgets in this record could probably go in the Ghostbusting supply cabinet! Using magnetometers, thermal imagers, movement sensors, light meters, and several cameras, the most systematic study in a haunted location took placed in the vaults of Edinburgh Castle. A total of 250 volunteers were put in this ‘haunted’ location to record their feelings and reactions to document how the human brain responds when being placed in eerie locations. 
 
Highest prize offered for a scientific proof of paranormal ability
Dr. Peter Venkman and Dr. Raymond Stantz could have earned quite a lot of cash with this record. The James Randi Educational Foundation Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge began in 1968 by skeptic James Randi (USA). His goal was to award money to the group who could prove the existence of supernatural abilities, using science of course. Beginning at 100 USD, the prize has increased to beyond $1 million and isstill being offered to anyone who can rise to the challenge. Since the start, no one has. 
 
Longest running paranormal magazine
If you like paranormal updates and can’t wait for another Ghostbusters sequel to be released, you’ll enjoy Fate magazine, the longest publication purely dedicated to the unexplainable phenomenon that makes up paranormal activity. Beginning in the Spring of 1948, it now runs online as a bi-monthly issue, reporting features on strictly the ghostly and unexplainable. 
 
Largest marshmallow mosaic
“The Big Guy” or for those who know him as the character “Stay Puft Marshmallow Man”, would truly appreciate this record title. Created in Amsterdam, Netherlands just last year, thousands of marshmallows were put together to ultimately form an Android mosaic. Measuring 11.9 m2, it takes on a sweet new record title. 
 
Largest gathering of people dressed as ghosts
Many take the side of the movie’s protagonists - after all, they look quite dashing in their jumpsuits and proton-packs. But those who love ghosts can attempt to break this spooky record. The largest gathering of ghosts did not happen in Manhattan like the upcoming film, but actually in Singapore. Organized by Sony Pictures, 263 people last month dressed as the iconic ghosts, to promote the new Ghostbusters movie‘s release, with director Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy on hand to support the attempt.

Most participants in a scientific study into an alleged haunted house
These participants got to live their own ghost experience in May 2000. An experiment lead by Psychologist Richard Wiseman asked 1,027 people to enter into Hampton Court Palace, known as one of the most haunted locations in England. There, volunteers were required to document strange feelings and extraordinary experiences for psychological evaluation. 
 
Most ghosts hidden in a videogame
In video game terms, a “ghost” is an image – usually of one of the games’ production team – hidden in the game and very difficult to find. In Metal Gear Solid, there are 43 ghosts of the producers. To view the ghosts, you need to use the camera and take photos at certains spots in the game, such as at Sniper Wolf’s dead body and while the guard is using the bathroom!
 
Most “disliked” movie trailer
This unwanted record was actually earned by the new Ghostbusters film back in May 2016 when it’s big reveal trailer was published on YouTube (you can watch the teaser at the top of the page). Notching up an extraordinary 648,614 largely due to disgruntled fans of the original move unhappy at the reboot and it’s all new cast, the new movie has nevertheless been roundly praised by reviewers, and has notched up a user score of 8.7 on Metacritic at the time of publishing.
