Ashrita Furman (USA) – who holds more Guinness World Records titles than anyone in the world – recently broke the record for the Most spears caught from a spear gun underwater in one minute.

The brave record-breaker caught an impressive total of 14 spears during the attempt in the Queensborough Community College pool in New York City, USA.

Homagni Baptista shot the spears (which were required to be a minimum of 60 cm long) towards Ashrita using Cressi Apache spear guns.

Wearing scuba equipment to allow him to breathe, Ashrita caught the spears from a distance of 2 metres (6 foot 6 inches) away from the spear shooter.

Ashrita wore a glove to protect himself during the record challenge, as a spear punctured his hand while he was practicing before the attempt.

The serial record breaker bettered the previous record of 10, which was achieved by Anthony Kelly (Australia) in the swimming pool at Sports UNE in Armidale, NSW, Australia in 2014.

Ashrita’s latest achievement comes shortly after we shared a video of him setting another dangerous record for the Most blow torches extinguished with the tongue  on our YouTube channel.

Ashrita currently holds an incredible total of 191 Guinness World Records titles.
