Welcome to the Guinness World Records Italian Show – a weekly video series which features the most astonishing, shocking and awe-inspiring record attempts from the seventh series of Italy’s Lo Show Dei Record.
In this week’s episode, record-breaking competitive eaters Takeru Kobayashi from Japan and Vittorio Noschese from Italy battle it out for the most hamburgers eaten in three minutes record.
Proving his ferocious appetite to retain the title, Takeru wins the challenge having gobbled down an impressive 12 burgers – one more than his previous record.
Each burger weighed 4 oz (113 g) pre-cooked, and he chose mayonnaise for the one condiment allowed by the Guinness World Records rules.
Vittorio gave it his best shot, but was unfortunately unable to match the pace of Takeru. Vittorio is the former record holder for the fastest time to eat 500 g of mozzarella.
Unbeatable Takeru, who has been a competitive eater since the age of 21, also holds the record for most hotdogs eaten in three minutes with six and most meatballs eaten in one minute with 29.
