As part of their global #DoYou campaign, PUMA Sports India Pvt. Ltd. wanted to attempt a Guinness World Records title that would celebrate empowerment and the inner strength of women.
The attempt took place at JIO Garden, BKC, Mumbai, Maharashtra and saw a staggering 1,623 females successfully achieve the Most people holding the abdominal plank position.
Guinness World Records judge Rishi Nath was on hand to officiate the challenge, ensuring that the fitness exercise was performed correctly and the women maintained the position simultaneously for a minimum of 60 seconds.
Also in attendance were a number of celebs including Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik, Everest-conquering twins Tashi and Nungsi Mallik, PUMA training pro Jacqueline Fernandez and Indian popstar Anushka Manchanda.
Abhishek Ganguly, MD, Senior PUMA India, commented:
With our global DO YOU campaign, we have encouraged each and every woman to embrace and celebrate her individuality and to find her core strength. Hence, as the culmination of this movement, we envisioned bringing together passionate and strong women across different walks of life in one of the biggest demonstrations of core strength - to break the Guinness World Record of ‘The Most People to Hold the Abdominal Plank Position’ for 60 seconds.
Guinness World Records has been instrumental in providing these women with the perfect platform to create a community and break a world record. The enormity and scale that Guinness has provided this movement with, rivals none other. We hope that the feat we have achieved inspires women to always believe in themselves, to work on their core strength and live the philosophy of the DO YOU campaign everyday. We are extremely thrilled to see the campaign succeed and snowball into a massive movement.
The #DoYou campaign was launched last month on International Girl Child Day – fronted by British model and actress Cara Delevingne – and its aim it to inspire confidence in women all over the world.
The previous record for the most people holding the abdominal plank position is 1,323 and was achieved by Rongxin Group in Fuzhou, Fujian, China last year.
