Each week here on guinnessworldrecords.com, we’ll be dipping into our extensive video library to bring you a classic piece of record-breaking action.
In celebration of National Popcorn Day on 19 January, this week’s Classics video returns to the moment Joe Alexander from Germany burst into the record books with a successful attempt at the Most popping popcorn caught with both hands in one minute, snatching an impressive 26 pieces as they flew into the air.
The challenge took place as part of Guinness World Records Day 2011 (16 November) at the gym of Joe Alexander Entertainment Group in Hamburg, Germany.
Official Guinness World Records adjudicator Olaf Kuchenbecker was on hand to count and verify the new record.
Joe's title has since been taken by serial record breaker Ashrita Furman (USA) who managed to catch an incredible 34 pieces of popcorn at the Sri Chimnoy Centre, in New York, New York, USA just one month later.
