Stefano Maso (Italy) has shattered the world record for Most consecutive halos (breakdance), having performed an incredible 49 full 360-degree rotations without stopping.

The attempt took place at Adriatico 2 shopping mall in Treviso, Italy, in front of a large audience of shoppers, as part of an event called “Street Night”.

To achieve the record, each twist had to be executed with the correct breakdance technique, only Stefano’s head was allowed to be in contact with the floor (with the exception that his hands could touch the floor to propel himself round between each halo).

A qualified breakdance instructor was on hand to verify the final total, as was Massimo Bet – who claimed the title Most breakdancing airflares in one minute (42) during his appearance on Italian TV programme “Lo Show Dei Record” in 2009.

In a cover letter to Guinness World Records Stefano explained why he wanted to set the record: “Because my teacher (and current crewmate – Massimo Bet) had broken the record for air flair in the past. From that day I wanted to be no less than him and I started training to break a record too.”

The dancer completed nine more halos than the previous record holder Miroslav Balog (Serbia), who set the record in November last year.
