Guinness World Records was today saddened to learn of the passing of Tillman – the incredible skateboarding, body-boarding, surfing, and all-round action dog and TV star – who died on Tuesday at the age of 10 following heart and respiratory problems.

In 2009 the brilliant English Bulldog was able to stand his own alongside the world’s best human extreme sports athletes after he rolled into the record books at X Games XV in Los Angeles, California, USA, by achieving the Fastest 100 m on a skateboard by a dog, in a remarkable time of 19.678 seconds.

Tillman quickly rose to fame and his videos reached millions of views on YouTube. He then became the “spokesdog” for Natural Balance dog food and even appeared in the Hallmark channel’s animal series “Who Let the Dogs Out”.

The pooch’s loving owner Ron Davis wrote on Tillman’s Facebook page on Wednesday to share the upsetting news of his death: “My best bud Tillman passed away last night. We shared many memories skating, surfing and hanging out together. No words can truly describe how much he’ll be missed. Thanks for all the good times, Tilly.”

Davis said that he did teach Tillman the more traditional dog tricks like "sit" and "paw", but Tilman was more of a thrill-seeker.

Talented Tillman’s record was slightly bettered in September 2013 when Jumpy the Dog (USA) skated past him with a time of 19.65 seconds on the set of “Officially Amazing”, also in Los Angeles – but record-breaking Tilly will never be forgotten.
