They may have already told us the story of their lives, but One Direction continue to add to the story of their career, adding another notch to the group's already impressive catalog of achievements.

Ahead of the Sept. 11 launch of the Guinness World Records 2015 book, the UK mega-group have been confirmed as entrants in the definitive annual for a remarkable first in the music industry.

With an unprecedented hat-trick of No.1 debuts on the Billboard 200 albums chart, the boys of 1D enter into the record books as the First act to debut at No. 1 with their first three albums on the standard-bearing American chart.

Their album Midnight Memories debuted in pole position last year following the chart-topping successes of Up All Night and Take Me Home in 2012. Incredibly, One Direction is the only act in the history of the Billboard albums chart to debut at the top with their first three releases - something even artists like Elvis, The Beatles, or Michael Jackson could never say.

The boys recently received their Guinness World Records certificate in New Jersey at MetLife Stadium on their Where We Are Tour, with member Niall Horan making the surprise announcement on stage to the shrieking delight of thousands of screaming fans.

"This really is one of our proudest moments, both for us and our incredible fans," Niall said. "Whenever we talk about it we always say how cool it is that we did it first. How sick is that?!"

One Direction consists of members Niall, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. Formed on the UK version of The X Factor in 2010, they've torn up the charts with hits like "What Makes You Beautiful," "Live While We're Young," and "Best Song Ever."

It isn't the boys' first taste of Guinness World Records immortality. In 2012, Up All Night made them the First British group to hit No. 1 in the U.S. with a debut album and, in turn, the Highest debut entry by a British group on the U.S. charts.

And on what was dubbed 1D Day last November, the gents attempted a couple of non-musical world records, including building the Tallest toilet paper stack in 30 seconds and Most balloons burst by sitting in 30 seconds.

While they sadly couldn't succeed there, One Direction's achievements behind the microphone have more than cemented the group's place in music history.
