Viewers in the UK will tonight be given a unique chance to take a look at what goes on behind the scenes at Guinness World Records, with the first programme of a two-part documentary series about the company.

For Inside Guinness World Records, director Olivia Lichtenstein was given unparalleled access to document in detail the day-to-day life of a Guinness World Records adjudicator.

From Smokey the Cat with the loudest purr, to Elaine Davidson the Most Pierced Woman, the programme also features scores of fascinating record holders.

Historic moments captured in the documentary include Editor-In-Chief Craig Glenday's extraordinary trip to Nepal to verify the height of Chandra Bahadur Dangi, the world's smallest man, and the dramatic moment French daredevil Alain "Spiderman" Robert attempts to scale 300m up 'The Torch Hotel' in Doha to set a new free climbing record.

Tune in to ITV 1 tonight at 8pm to watch part one, with part two following on the channel at the same next Tuesday ( Dec 18).
