On Tuesday, August 23 rd, I was invited to witness the world's largest online marketing seminar, or "webinar," which was hosted by HubSpot, an online marketing software company.

HubSpot hosts dozens of webinars each year on a variety of subjects, which often garner thousands of attendees.

Considering the popularity of these seminars, they decided it was time to take it to the next level and formally be recognized by Guinness World Records as holding the largest online marketing seminar in the world.

Dan Zarrella, HubSpot's social media scientist and author of three books, led the presentation which was entitled "The Science of Social Media."

During the hour-long lesson, he presented data gathered from some of the most influential Twitter and Facebook accounts, showing both how they were able to garner so much influence and how they keep their followers engaged and interested.

The goal of the seminar was to teach participants how to use and interact with these interfaces to give their brands the greatest reach possible and this included data such as how many links are posted, how many questions directly answered, and even what parts of speech are most effective in a post.

From the over 30,000 registrants, a total of 10,899 people attended the webinar, making it the world's largest online marketing seminar and a new Guinness World Records title.
