The world record for the largest mosaic picture held by people was broken for a very special cause in Charleston, South Carolina earlier this month.

A total of 1,458 participants gathered at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island, SC for the attempt which was motivated by Ansley McEvoy, a five year old girl who was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer last year.

Organized to raise funds for The Journey House, a non-profit group set up by Ansley's family, the image formed was a picture the youngster had drawn for the charity.

Boxes of hand coloured boards were carried on to the field and in a very organized fashion, given to participants to stand and hold over their heads.

Once all participants were in place, they raised the boards to form the mosaic for a required ten minutes.

Following the successful attempt, the McEvoy family spoke to the crowd thanking everyone for their support to make Ansley's dream of a world record come true.

While Ansley's parents Matt and Amy were fortunate to live near the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and receive the support they needed during her treatment, they met many families who didn't have the same help and were struggling to make ends meet.

Feeling moved to make a difference, the family set up The Journey House charity, with the aim of building housing for families to stay in while their children receive treatment at MUSC.

We wish Ansley and the whole McEvoy family the best of luck in their mission to build the Journey House.
