The Brief

Educational publisher Twinkl wanted to bring people together to do something unique with local schools for BBC Children in Need. So how could they engage school children in the fundraising effort, with an event that they would remember for the rest of their lives? Break a record title with Guinness World Records.

The Solution

Eleven schools, four choirs and eight businesses assembled to break the record title for most people in a singing relay - multiple songs, with 384 participants. Caroline Hallam from Sheffield Music Hub was the Singing Leader for the event and Grant Thornton LLP participated as stewards. The achievement sparked national press coverage, such as the Primary Times, CBBC Newsround and the London Evening Standard. Twinkl is now working with some of the record holders on other projects. The event would not have been possible without the support of Sheffield Theatres, Grant Thornton LLP, Sheffield Music Hub and all the people that took part.
We were delighted to have an Official Adjudicator, Pravin Patel, and the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ mascot, ALLY ZING™ at the event. Pravin answered all our questions leading up to and during the event and his presence really added to the atmosphere and excitement on the day. The same went for ALLY ZING, who along with Pudsey Bear entertained and delighted the audience. It was an emotive, thrilling and very special day for everyone involved.
