The Brief
Inspired by Nike’s Breaking2 campaign, Phil and Joe Ratterman of Kansas City were determined to organize a two-hour marathon in relay to bring its community of athletes together in support of several important causes.
The Solution
After contacting GWR, the Ratterman’s set out to attempt the title for fastest marathon distance in relay. To promote the attempt, text messages, emails, and social posts were circulated, and a press release was issued featuring a link to a dedicated webpage to recruit athletes interested in participating. The official attempt was held in June 2018 at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. An official adjudicator was on-site to verify and reveal the record-breaking results in person. With support from its 2+ dozen individual and 6 brand sponsors, the event united the community and raised $58K+ for local charities: Hope Faith Ministries and The Global Orphan Project. The achievement was announced via press release, a recap video, and on channel 9/ABC news. Watch the recap video here:
This was truly an incredible event to help with and watch happen. Our board, staff and clients are very grateful to have been one of the recipients to benefit from this wonderful achievement.
