The Brief

Insanity Records, a Sony Music Entertainment Ltd label, wanted to raise awareness of their up and coming artist, Tom Grennan, and promote his debut album release, Lighting matches, with a challenge that would attract the media and social audience’s attention.

The Solution

Following a record consultancy with GWR’s Commercial Team, Insanity Records, a Sony Music Entertainment Ltd label, decided on the most concerts in 12 hours (multiple towns) GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title.
The multiple towns element of the attempt added a sense of jeopardy to the event, as it was a real race against time for Tom to make it to various venues in the UK within the 12-hour timeframe.
Having pushed out press materials including purchased GWR branding pre-attempt, the record attempt went on to capture the interest of the media resulting in a wealth of online, tv and radio hits for their new artist –including an interview on the UK’s most listened to radio station, BBC Radio 2.
A post-event wrap-up release went on to secure further broadcast and online hits for the attempt.
