The Brief

North America’s leading maintenance and repair franchise - Dryer Vent Wizard - was looking for a unique way to raise awareness about the serious dangers of dryer fires and turned to GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ creative consultancy to help them devise a campaign solution using the power of record-breaking.  

The Solution

Leading up to its attempt for the largest ball of lint, Dryer Vent Wizard collected lint from 9,000+ communities across the country with the help of its franchisees. The company’s corporate teams and franchisees then gathered in Farmington Hills, MI in Sept. 2019 for the official attempt.

With an adjudicator onsite, the record was confirmed in real-time and the brand proceeded with the activation, which didn’t stop at their achievement. Instead, the brand invited local firefighters to light the giant lint ball ablaze, followed by hosing it down to highlight how a lack of proper maintenance can be detrimental to homeowners’ safety.

Being able to participate in creating the world’s largest lint ball was an incredibly rewarding experience. The second we found out about this, we started collecting lint to send to help participate. Dryer vent safety is a serious home maintenance issue that needs to be addressed. This was a great way for us to help raise awareness for this important cause.
