The Brief
As Lipstick Day is becoming an increasingly popular commercial day in Turkey, with most beauty brands offering special discounts and deals on the day, Avon Turkey wanted to do something different to get noticed by the beauty community online, as well as a piece of activity that would communicate the superiority of their products.
The Solution
Avon Turkey attempted the Most lipstick applications in one minute GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title with their makeup artist Melis İlkkılıç, a record title they decided on following record consultancy with Guinness World Records. Avon felt as though this would be the best way to communicate their expertise as well as emphasise the strengths of their lipsticks – which were then positioned by Avon as the true heroes of the record attempt due to their ease of application and high colour coverage features.
Following a successful record attempt with 8 applications in a minute, Avon used their purchased GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS licensing to promote the attempt with post-event marketing activity and press materials. The record attempt was received well on social media, garnering large reach figures and positive engagement figures on both Twitter and Instagram. The event was also shared by online influencers, which further ensured that Avon Turkey met their social media coverage KPI.
