The Brief

Asociatia 11even were determined to create a massive project in line with Romania’s biggest commemorative event, Great Union Day. 

This date declares the union of Transylvania and Romania, which was reaching the 100-year anniversary in 2018. The campaign name Cel mai mare 100 (The Biggest 100) was born to celebrate 100 years of unity and to showcase this Asociatia 11even wanted to attempt a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS© title.

The Solution

Guinness World Records provided its Creative Record Consultancy service to come up with the best solution for the event. 

Following the concept of “The Biggest 100”, Guinness World Records developed record ideas to ensure many participants could attend from different regions of Romania. 

Asociatia 11even decided that an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS© attempt for the largest human image of a country/continent would be the perfect way to involve a multitude of people from different backgrounds. 

The event was held at Alba Iulia, the city where the country’s official unification agreement was signed 100 years prior. To maximise exposure and help portray the message of unity, Asociatia 11even partnered with one of the nation’s largest festivals Bucurie in Miscare, the Alba Iulia City Hall, and various institutions and NGOs. 

The number 100 was incorporated into the image of the map, marking the centenary. 

Participants ranging from ages 4 to 65 travelled from over 60 cities across the country to become a part of this achievement, with a total of 4,807 participants contributing to the successful attempt.
