A group of 314 guests at Butlin’s Minehead Resort in Somerset made history earlier this week as they set a new Guinness World Records title for most people playing the board game Connect 4 simultaneously.

In order to break the record, each pair of participants had to play play a minimum of one full game of Connect 4. A Guinness World Records adjudicator joined forces with the Butlin's Redcoats to verify all 314 record hopefuls complied with official guidelines. As if breaking a Guinness World Records title wasn't enough, everyone that participated in the attempt got to take their Connect 4 board game home with them.

The record helped affirm Butlin's ethos to bring families together to share quality time and celebrated its relationship with world-famous games manufacturer Hasbro Gaming. This partnership is a pivotal part of the new £16m West Lakes Chalet Village development at the Minehead resort, where popular Hasbro Gaming titles such as Twister are available for all guests.

“We are delighted to be involved in Butlin’s new Chalet Village and Guinness World Records title for the most people playing Connect 4. It’s great to see Butlin’s and Hasbro Gaming working together to champion family gaming. We live in a digital world, but board games can still bring everyone together for real face time, to laugh, converse and compete whatever the age.” stated Kay Green, Hasbro's UK Marketing Director
