Pawsome scenes as dogs break world record at PAW Patrol premiere

More than 200 dogs enjoyed a pawsome day out when they joined their owners for a special screening of new film PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie.

Paramount Pictures (USA) deserve lots of treats and belly rubs after earning the record title for most dogs attending a film screening.

A total of 219 good boys and girls sat down to watch the latest adventures of Ryder and his four-legged friends Chase, Marshall and the gang.

The animated flick was screened on the lawn of the Autry Museum of the American West in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, California, USA, on 24 September and was met with many barks of appreciation and wagging tails of approval.

It was a very special occasion, not only because so many dogs were in attendance, but also because everyone there got to see the movie before its release on 29 September.

The dogs also had the chance to walk the red carpet and pose for the pup-arazzi.

The event was hosted by Entertainment Tonight (ET) presenter Kevin Frazier, who clearly got the pick of the litter when it came to handing out assignments in the newsroom that day.

The team behind the movie - which stars Kristen Bell and James Marsden – wanted to make a big splash ahead of its release and were thrilled by how many pooches headed to the premiere.

Dogs big and small – from Chihuahuas to English Mastiffs – and of all ages – from the minimum required age of 1 to 15 - turned up at the screening and settled in with their owners to watch the movie on the big screen.

A vet from the local humane society and a team of vet techs were on hand to check each dog met the guidelines and add them into the logbook before the screening commenced.

Even more dogs had been present at the event but didn’t meet the requirements for the record by sitting down to watch at least 10 minutes of the movie.

Perhaps they caught whiff of an interesting smell and wandered off to investigate.

However, enough dogs were captivated by the movie to beat the previous record of 199 set in 2022, with many even sitting patiently to watch the whole thing.

Organizers say all the dogs were incredibly well behaved and that seeing all the smiling faces and wagging tails in the audience was a “special moment”.

Guinness World Records Adjudicator Michael Empric announced the results alongside characters from PAW Patrol, and probably had the best day ever petting all 219 dogs.

Marc Weinstock, President, WW Marketing & Distribution, Paramount Pictures, said: “It feels very special to have achieved this record in honour of a very special movie, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie.

“We’re thankful to all the pups and parents who helped us achieve this incredible record on behalf of our film.”
