Texas restaurant breaks record for the world's largest commercially available pizza

Pizza lovers: Could you imagine having a deliciously cheesy 8 ft x 2 ft 8in pizza pie delivered right to your door?

In the town of Burlson in Texas, USA, Moontower Pizza Bar's latest menu offering is a dish that's claimed the record for the world’s Largest pizza commercially available.

It costs $299.95 (plus tax) including one topping, is deliverable within a specific area - and requires 48 hours notice.

This sizzling pizza measures 1.98m² (21 ft² x 48 in²) and is known as 'The Bus' for its hefty rectangular shape.

Using homemade sauce and dough whipped up from scratch, The Bus only takes 30 minutes to bake in a rotating oven before being ready for delivery in a custom-made gigantic box.

In creating the pizza 96" x 32" rectangular pizza, described by the restaurant as "3,072 square inches of yum", Moontower have successfully broken a record held by Big Mama's and Papa's Pizzeria in Los Angeles since 2010.

Over 100 friends, family members and pizza-hungry members of the public attended the official record announcement in the restaurant's outdoor seating area recently, ready to consume the enormous pie as soon as adjudicator Claire Stephens confirmed The Bus as a successful Guinness World Records title holder.

As Moontower state on their menu, if you're thinking of ordering this massive pie for your party "you better be hungry!"

"Right before rolling it into the oven, over ten pounds of cheese and toppings were added, including pepperoni, mushrooms, and peppers to the pizza. It took about 30 minutes for the pizza to go all the way through the rotating oven before it was laid out and measured to be eight feet by two feet and eight inches. Moontower is now Officially Amazing!" – adjudicator Claire Stephens
