As part of World Asthma Day earlier this month, healthcare company Teva Europe held an incredible mass participation record attempt for the title Largest breathing lesson (multiple venues), with a breath-taking total of 665 people taking part.

At nine of the company’s European sites, Teva employees were taught a variety of breathing exercises by fully qualified yoga instructors, including techniques like temporary suspension of breath, right and left nostril breathing and “lion’s breath”.

Teva Europe decided to take on this record as a way of encouraging patients with breathing problems, like respiratory disease and asthma, to learn helpful ways of coping with their conditions.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Sofia Greenacre officiated this attempt and confirmed that the company successfully set the record.

Luca Frangoni, Head Respiratory Europe commented: “This Guinness World Records attempt demonstrates our commitment to respiratory care and represents the significant change that we can make together.”
