Get ready to pucker up! Six Flags theme parks just set the record for Most couples kissing under the mistletoe (multiple venues).

Mistletoe is traditionally hung up in homes during Christmas time. Custom has it, that whoever stands under the hanging sprig, must give a smooch in honour of the festive season.

This year, Six Flags decided to spread the love by having 839 couples lock lips around the U.S., setting a new record title.

The record was broken as part of Six Flags’ Holiday in the Park wintertime celebration, a festivity that occurs each year featuring dazzling light displays, holiday-themed entertainment and thrilling roller coasters.

In order to successfully achieve the title, all participating couples were required to join hands and smooch for at least 10 seconds under a romantic sprigs of live mistletoe.

A grand total of seven parks came together to peck under the mistletoe, including Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Six Flags St Louis.

“Six Flags really outdid itself this year by making history and celebrating the holidays by bringing people together from coast to coast to set a new world record,” said Christina Conlon, the Guinness World Records official adjudicator present for the event.

The event went so well, it even sparked a marriage proposal.
