Thai hotel Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort in the UAE launched its gourmet food festival by attempting a brand new Guinness World Records title.

The Anantara Dubai Culinary Team successfully created the world’s Largest serving of mango sticky rice (Khao Neeo Mamuang) – a supersize portion of a traditional Thai dish.

The mammoth serving weighed a whopping 2831.00 kg (6241.287 lb) and was made from around 1,000 kg of rice, 500 litres of coconut milk, 500 litres of coconut cream, 50 kg sugar, 300 kg of mango and three litres of oil.

The attempt took months of planning and hours to prepare, but it was a huge success.

Official Guinness World Records adjudicator Leila Issa was on hand to announce the new record and present a certificate to the ten chefs.

Guests at the hotel were then given the opportunity to taste some of the enormous desert.

The remainder was put into plastic containers and distributed to labour camps across Dubai so that none went to waste.

“I am very pleased and proud of Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort team … We believe in this motto: Together We Can, and we are working towards more achievements and success,” said Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort general manager Jean-Francois Laurent.
