Legendary quarterback Tom Brady has made his retirement from the National Football League official.

The NFL's G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time) holds a number of impressive records, including the most Super Bowl wins by an individual player, the most pass completions in an NFL career by a quarterback and the oldest quarterback to win a Super Bowl

Brady's decision to hang up his uniform comes after 22 extraordinary seasons and seven Super Bowl wins, six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

On Tuesday, 1 February 2022, the world-renowned sportsman kicked off his day by posting a goodbye announcement to his Twitter account, writing: "I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention."

Brady is crossing over into the end-zone of his career with a record $475 million in earnings.

Affectionally known as "California Cool," Brady was adamant that he didn't want a "farewell season", according to ESPN.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB fastened his cleats and joined his teammates in his last football game ever against the Los Angeles Rams last weekend.

During his historic run with the NFL, Brady racked up an extraordinary list of records in both the regular and postseason.

In honour of his winning career, we celebrate some of Tom Terrific's most memorable records:

The gridiron athlete began his football journey in high school. He sat as the backup quarterback for the junior varsity team at Junipero Serra High School and later as the backup quarterback for the University of Michigan.

The famous footballer often struggled with the fact that he could not immediately enter a starting position and shine the way he knew he was meant to. With experience, his appetite for competition grew and in 2000 he was drafted into the NFL.

While Brady is undoubtedly one of the greatest football players to ever step onto the field, he is now looking forward to tackling the next chapter in his life.

Despite his record-breaking accomplishments, Brady says his greatest achievement is his family.

During a recent episode of his podcast "Let’s Go," he told co-host Jim Gray there is joy in not playing football and dedicating time to his family.

"I'm gonna spend some time with them [family] and give them what they need, 'cause they've really been giving me what I need the last six months to do what I love to do. It's not always what I want. It's what we want as a family. And I'm gonna spend a lot of time with them and figure out in the future what's next."

Brady's wife and kids aren't the only ones cheering him on from the sidelines. Head coach Bruce Arians expressed his gratitude to TB12 in a statement released on the team's website.

"It has been an honor to be his head coach for the past two seasons," said Arians.

"I have a deep appreciation and respect for what he has done for our franchise, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best in this next chapter of life after football."
