Charli D’Amelio (USA), a 16-year-old teenager, is breaking the internet with her TikTok fame and has now earned a coveted spot in Guinness World Records 2021.

Not only is Charli the most followers on TikTok (female), but she is also the most followed person on TikTok overall.

Charli's entry in Guinness World Records 2021 marks her achievement of having 52,037,851 followers (correct as of 30 April 2020), but she now has over 101 million followers on the short-form video platform.

In April of 2020, she also became the first person with 50 million followers on TikTok and now holds the record for the first person to reach 100 million followers on TikTok, which she achieved on 22 November 2020.

This means she amassed a phenomenal 50 million followers in only 7 months.

The record holder for the most followers on TikTok (male) is Zach King (USA), who had 42,023,513 followers as of 30 April 2020 and now has over 53 million.

Charli first joined TikTok when her friends asked her to help them learn different TikTok dances.

Since Charli has a background in competitive dance, her friends knew she could easily help them learn the dance moves.

Her account has continued to grow, and includes posts of Charli creating her own dances, learning trending ones and some including her older sister Dixie D’Amelio.

As Charli’s following on TikTok grew, she has been able to expand her platform significantly to not only highlight her impressive dance skills but shed light around cyber bullying and other important causes.

More recently, Charli had a signature drink added to the Dunkin Donuts menu called "The Charli", starred in a Superbowl commercial, and secured partnerships with Hollister, Morphe Makeup, Oroso Beauty and even participated in cool magic tricks with David Blaine.

We wonder what record Charli will break next... surely the 200 million followers mark can't be too far away?
