Our new weekly video series Meet the Record Breakers – Japan Tour shines a spotlight on some of the most incredible world record holders from the nation.

This week’s instalment features the incredibly-talented Double Dutch team Diana, who recently attempted to set a new world record for the Most Double Dutch-style skips in 30 seconds.

The attempt took place at a local velodrome in Toride, Ibaraki, Japan, and saw the trio achieve a total of 129 skips.

Quick-footed 23-year-old Ayumi Sakamaki moved so fast over the two ropes that Guinness World Records adjudicator Kaoru Ishikawa was required to examine slow-motion footage of the attempt before confirming the record.

To successfully achieve this title, each skip counted towards the final total had to include a full 360 degree revolution of both skipping ropes.

“We have been dreaming of becoming Guinness World Records title holders, so we are really happy. But from now on I want to make sure that we act as Guinness World Records title holders and inspire other people, ” Ayumi said.
