Austria’s Stefan Kraft breaks world record after landing 253.5m ski jump

Austrian world champion ski jumper Stefan Kraft soared into the record books on Saturday during the 29th FIS Ski Jumping World Cup taking place in Vikersund, Norway.
 
The 23-year-old landed an incredible 253.5 metres (831 ft 8.31 in) jump - the Longest competitive ski jump (male) on record.

This beat the mark of 252 metres that Norway’s Robert Johansson achieved only hours earlier, breaking fellow Norwegian Anders Fannemel’s two-year-old record of 251.5 metres.
 
 
Kraft's record-breaking jump helped his team secure third place in the men’s event while Johansson’s team came first overall. Poland won second place.
