Welcome to the Guinness World Records Italian Show – a weekly video series which features the most astonishing, shocking and awe-inspiring record attempts from the seventh series of Italy’s Lo Show Dei Record.

Today's episode sees Homar Leuci from Italy enter a tank and attempt the Farthest simulated distance static cycling underwater (apnoea) without any breathing equipment.

Homar takes a deep breath before submerging his face in the water and peddling for an astonishing 855 m (2,805 ft 1 in), speeding way past his previous record of 767 metres (2,516 ft 4 in) that he set on the show four years earlier.

Underwater cycling has proved quite popular with record-breakers over the years, but when it comes to submarine cycling, no one is as deeply committed as Vittorio Innocente (Italy). On 21 Jul 2008, he rode his bicycle at a depth of 66.5 m (218 ft 2 in) in Santa Margherita Ligure in Liguria, Italy and set a record for the Deepest underwater cycling.

His impressive feat earned him a place in the Guinness World Records 2017 Edition book.

The Farthest distance cycled underwater is 6.7 km (4.1 mi) and was achieved by Jens Stötzner (Germany) at Bibert Bad Zirndorf in Zirndorf, Germany back in 2013.
