Video Classics: Tigger the Bloodhound has the longest ears on a dog ever

Each week here on guinnessworldrecords.com, we’ll be dipping into our extensive video library to bring you a classic piece of record-breaking action.

 

Tigger the bloodhound holds the record for the Longest ears on a dog ever, with his lengthy lobes measuring 34.9 cm (13.75 in) and 34.2 cm (13.5 in) for the right and left respectively.

 

 

Owned by Bryan and Christina Flessner of St Joseph, Illinois, USA, Tigger won many show titles and over 180 Best of Breed awards. He was even inducted into the Bloodhound 'Hall of Fame' in 2003.

 

Bryan told Guinness World Records that he had to spend a lot of time cleaning and looking after the dog’s record-breaking ears.

 

 

Tigger met fellow record-setting pooch Sweet Pea during a photoshoot for the Guinness World Records 2010 book.

 

 

Sadly, Tigger passed away in October 2009.

 

A black and tan coonhound named Harbor has the Longest ears on a dog living, with measurements of 31.1 cm (12.25 in) for the left ear and 34.3 cm (13.5 in) for the right, as of 8 June 2010.

 

Traditionally a hunting dog, the breed is well known for its distinctive droopy ears, which it uses to sweep up scents from the ground, but Harbor, owned by Jennifer Wert of Colorado, USA, is way ahead of the pack.
