This Monday marks the first day of the Chinese New Year, with millions of people around the world set to celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Monkey.
To mark the occasion, Guinness World Records is remembering some of the most amazing records that have recently been set in the region.
1. Most individual donations for a campaign on a single online platform in 24 hours
Global Cultural Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone Mariatu Kargbo and Chinese celebrities including Tiny Times star Yang Mi, boy band TFBOYS, actress Liu Shishi, and actors Han Geng and Ryan Zheng, all contributed to the attempt by appealing for donations.
2. Largest 3D mandala
The largest 3D Mandala is 7.371 m (24.18 feet) high with a diameter of 14.23 m (46.69 feet) and was achieved by Diqing Shangri-La Culture Development Co., Ltd. (China) in Shangri-La, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan, China, verified on 12 March 2015.
Mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Indian religions, representing the universe.

5. Largest dragon boat regatta - teams
The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional holiday in China which occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional lunar calendar. Celebrations involve eating zongzi (sticky rice treats wrapped in bamboo leaves), drinking realgar wine (an alcoholic Chinese beverage), and racing dragon boats. Over 19-20 June 2015, the largest dragon boat regatta consisted of 203 dragon boats in an event organised by People’s Government of Wenzhou City in Wenzhou, Zhejiang.

Two massively popular Chinese celebrities - lead singer of TFBOYS Wang Junkai and LuHan - smashed Guinness World Records titles on Weibo™, a prevalent social media platform in China.

Most comments on a Weibo™ post on 5 August 2014 after registering a staggering 13,163,859 comments. As of 2 September 2015, the same post had clocked up 100,252,605 responses (and counting) – evidence of the singer, dancer and actor’s ever-growing popularity.

With a combined height of 13 feet 10.72 in (423.47 cm), Sun Mingming, 33, and his wife Xu Yan, 29, of China,
claim the title for tallest married couple, measuring 7 ft 8.98 in (236.17 cm) and 6 ft 1.74 in (187.3 cm) respectively. Having met at the National Games of China in 2009, they eventually married in Beijing, on August 4, 2013. Both Sun and Xu are sports stars in their home country – he plays basketball and she is a handball player.
9. Largest martial arts display at multiple venues
The largest martial arts display at multiple venues is 53,803 people and was achieved by Chenjiagou Scenic Area Administration in Jiaozuo City and various venues around Zhengzhou, Henan, on 18 October 2015.
10. Highest online sales revenue generated by a single company in 24 hours
11 November is a popular festival among young Chinese people who want to celebrate the fact they are proud of being single. The date is chosen because the number "1" represents an individual that is alone. This festival has gradually become one of the largest online shopping days in the world.
Last year, the highest online sales revenue generated by a single company in 24 hours became 91,217,036,022 Chinese Yuan (14,322,094,406 USD; 9,434,029,624 GBP) and was achieved by Alibaba Group during their Singles’ Day sales.
11. Farthest distance covered by a quadruped robot
Developed by a team led by Professor Li Qingdu from the College of Automation of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the robot took the title after travelling an incredible 134.03 km (83.28 miles), in Chongqing, from 24 to 27 October 2015.
12. Largest hulusi ensemble
In the last month of 2015, Shunde Polytechnic in Foshan, Guangdong, China broke a record with a traditional musical instrument. The largest hulusi ensemble consisted of 1,589 participants.
Hulusi is a free reed wind instrument from China. It is held vertically and has three bamboo pipes which pass through a gourd wind chest.
