Continuing our month-by-month look back over the past year of fantastic record-breaking feats, there was a wide variety of incredible achievements in July, with highlights including a supersized ice-cream cone, the tallest outdoor lift and a celebration of the oldest living person’s birthday...
videoAt the beginning of the month we were celebrating the record-breaking success of Britmums Live 2015 – the UK’s largest two-day social media conference and blogger event for parents.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Justine Tommey surprised the guests with an announcement that they would be attempting a record for the Most people wrapped as mummies in three minutes – and with a total of 51 they had it wrapped up.
People all over the world get excited by Oldest living person news, and Susannah Mushatt Jones (USA) celebrated her 116th birthday in on 6 July, having been born in 1899.
Susannah has lost her eyesight and is hard of hearing, but is mostly in good health - when asked the secret of her longevity she noted “sleep”.
An incredibly moving record took place at the end of that week when over 400 people took part in a group skydive to commemorate Stephen Sutton – the inspiring cancer patient, charity activist and
record-breaker who sadly passed away in May 2014 – and continue his fundraising legacy.
The participants, who included Stephen’s mother Jane and other friends and family members, soared down a breath-taking 10,000 ft to earn the title for the Most tandem parachute jumps in 24 hours – a record Stephen had his heart set on breaking before his untimely death.
Humanitarian charity Penny Appeal (UK) also successfully attempted an exciting record for a good cause when they did the Longest live broadcast for a charitable event at British Muslim TV Studios in Wakefield from 2-14 July.
Taking place during Ramadan, the lengthy broadcast aimed to raise awareness of the charity’s work in numerous crisis-hit countries.
Norway’s popular family-run ice-cream company Hennig-Olsen scooped a really cool Guinness World Records title when they produced the world’s Tallest ice-cream cone.
Perfect for July’s summery weather, the supersized cone was a whopping 3.08 m high and contained enough strawberry ice-cream for 10,800 people to have two portions each.

From a tall confectionary construction we move to a towering cliff-face elevator in Hunan, China that, at 326 m (1,070 ft), is recognised as the Tallest outdoor lift.
President of Guinness World Records Greater China Mr Rowan Simons attended an event at the lift's location in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in July, and presented an official certificate in recognition of the amazing achievement.
There was dancing in the street in the City of Mandaluyong in the Philippines when it hosted the Largest Zumba class ever attempted, organised by the government.
The event formed part of the birthday celebrations for the city’s well-loved Mayor, Benhur Abalos, who had recently won a UN Public Service Award for launching a health care programme encouraging people to engage in more active lifestyles.

There was another landmark birthday celebration in July when Snooty, the record holder for the Oldest manatee living in captivity, turned 67.
CEO of South Florida Museum (USA) – where the amazing marine mammal resides – Brynne Anne Besio said: “Not only does he make history every day as the oldest-known manatee in the world, but he also provides valuable insight into the health and life cycle of all manatees.”
