Each week here on guinnessworldrecords.com, we’ll be dipping into our extensive video library to bring you a classic piece of record-breaking action.
This week we’re returning to September 2009 and the incredible moment Tao Yongming (China) rocketed up a 418 m (1371 ft 4.66 in) tall desert mountain on a motorbike to set a record for the Fastest time to ascend a sand dune on a motorcycle.
With the attempt taking place as part of the Chinese TV show Zeng Da Zong Yi-Guinness World Records Special, Tao drove his Suzuki DR 250 to the top of Bilutu Peak in Badanjilin desert, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China in a rapid 6 minutes 2 seconds, ascending from an altitude of 1,183 m (3881 ft 2.71 in) to an impressive 1,601 m (5252 ft 7.37 in).

In December last year, Tao visited the desert again for CCTV-Guinness World Records Special, successfully earning a record for the Fastest time to ascend 400 meters on a sand dune in a pick up truck in just 6 min 33 sec.
